Train Confusion

I was sleeping when my cellphone rings early in the morning and it was my sister. She was calling me to tell me that she had taken my mom to the hospital.  I don't take any bad news to well so they throw me off, get me nervous and I can't think or stay focused on anything. And the faster I want to do things its like it takes forever.  I said to my sister "I will get dressed and go to the hospital."  She said "ok I will be waiting."  When I finished talking with her I called my other sister right away and to tell her my mom is in the hospital and she said "yes I know I am going to get dressed to go." I told her "I am getting dressed to." She said " so when you finish getting dress call me so that I can meet up with you in the train station."  I said "ok" and hung up. Since I live in the upper section of Manhattan when I take the train its only one stop to her station. I call my sister and tell her "I am ready to go out the door."  She says"what car are you going to be in?" I say " I am going to get on the fourth car." So, great I go downstairs and get to the train station. When I swipe my metro card I see the tv screen and it says 3minutes for the next train to arrive. I sit down and the waited a while for the train to arrive. When the train arrived I stand up and go to the fourth car to see if my sister is there and I don't see her. The door closes and the train takes off.  I look at the tv screen again and it says 5minutes so I sit down and wait for the next train to arrive so that I can get on. When the next train arrive I stand up go to the car and try to spot my sister I say to myself that's weird she's not on. I say to myself maybe she was hungry and stopped by the restaurant to by herself a cup of coffee. I sit down and wait two more trains arrive and people get on and off and I am still in the station. I say what is going on. I take out my cellphone and when I am about to dial her number a phone call comes in and its her. She tells me " where are you? " "I have been waiting here a while and you don't get here" "what's going on?" " Are you in the train station?" "I tell her yes I am in the train station waiting for you" she then says you need to get on the train because you are uptown and I am downtown" and I felt puzzled for a second and then said " oh, yeah yeah, I am getting on now, there's a train about to arrive" she said ok so get on"  When the train arrived since I was so confused I made sure I counted the cars to make sure I see my sister and get on the right car. Since I had wasted so much time waiting for my sister. But in fact she was the one waiting for me. As I wrote this blog I just couldn't stop laughing because its so funny.  By the way my beautiful lovely, wonderful mom is doing well.

Nickelodeon's World Wide Day Off

On Saturday September 24, 2011 my grand daughter told me that Nickelodeon had a world wide take your kids to the park day. She said "grandma I would like to go to the park and jump rope."  I was so tired but how can I say no to my grand daughter and to such a wonderful thing Nickelodeon has done.  I said " ok  grand daughter get dressed"  and I took her and my 14 year old to the park.  Let me say that although I don't jump rope, I enjoyed taking pictures in the park.  My favorite is taking pictures of the George Washington Bridge and New Jersey.  I love the beautiful view I can see from Manhattan to New Jersey especially when the sun is setting.  I think it was a great idea because kids who watch Nickelodeon are being encouraged to go out and play or do some kind of activity instead of just watching television the whole day.  We spent the day walking and discovered some insects on the ground, took pictures of a seagull, watched the geese's as they ate things from the grass and all the bees feeding from the nectar of the beautiful flowers. What a wonderful day I had with my two favorite girls. I hope Nickelodeon keeps up the great job their doing and hope other channels will pick up this beautiful trend the channel has done.

What's Going On Behind You At The Ballroom Dance Competition.

When my daughter was in ballroom dance class she had a competition coming up.  I charged my video camera the night before.  To my surprise the next day when I  arrive to the competition with my daughter I turn my video camera on so that I can capture the first moments before the dance.  My video cameras battery was low and I couldn't record the dance.  I was disappointed and felt sad because I really wanted to have those precious moments of her ballroom dance competition.  Her dance teacher was greeting all the parents and students then stepped out.  When the dance teacher came back before the dance began.  It was obvious he had been in the bathroom because he had a long toilet paper sticking out from the back of his pants.  When the other dance teachers  and people saw this everyone was walking fast behind him to try to let him know that he had this toilet paper coming out of  the back of his pants.  Everyone who he passed by and saw the toilet paper sticking out of his pants tried to step on it.  When finally one of the teachers caught up to him and told him what was going on behind his back.   He immediately turned around and pulled it out of his pants and disappeared into the crowded room of teachers and people.  It was so funny that I even forgot that my camera wasn't charged and I couldn't record my daughters special moments, but when I remember this incident it tickles me because it was so funny that it still makes me laugh.

Gingers Day In The Park

My puppy Ginger is a York Terrier who loves attention. Yesterday I took her to the park and every small dog that passed by she did not pay attention. When she would see big dogs she would instantly pull and walk faster towards the big dog and begin smelling them. My heart goes down to my stomach because many dog owners will say "oh my dog is friendly she/he won't bite" but I always fear other peoples dog when it comes to Gingers safety.  When we got home Ginger was so tired not because she walked but from smelling so many dogs. I ask myself what is it with Ginger and big dogs. Well I think I am going to buy Ginger a stroller to be on the safe side with my baby Gingy. I love her so much.

September 11, 2011

Today when I woke up I looked at my tv screen.  My tv was tuned in to channel 7.  The families of the terrible 911 tragedy were reading the names of their loved ones and the others who died in the 911 attack. It bought tears to my eyes because all the people who died that day woke up just like I do and went to work not knowing that on that day it was going to be there last day seeing their families, fathers, mothers, children, aunts, uncles, sisters ,brothers ,grandchildren, friends, cousins, and everything else that they loved to do.  It saddens me to know that here on earth we are living among people who are so ruthless and have no feelings what so ever for human beings. Because to do such a horrendous thing to human life is something that leaves me speechless. When in fact  these ruthless monsters who flew the plane into the World Trade Center Tours themselves come from a human being.  The people who died that day didn't get a chance to live their life like they wanted, and was meant to by god.  Their lives, dreams and futures were taken away from them.  I just know that when I looked at my tv screen, and saw the families reading their loved ones names, and some even saying things their loved ones liked to do after they read their loved ones name, it made me cry.  I don't have the words to describe what I was feeling because I had a mix of emotions, but at that moment I felt like if I were there with everyone.  We are all one whether you were there or not.  I just felt that watching the reading of the names made me part of the ceremony.   Their  pain is my pain and the whole worlds pain because this day, September 11, will never be forgotten.  Today is a day that will always live in our minds.  We should always take time to spend as much time with our families and tell them how much we love them.

The Weather Weather and Me.

Today's weather is nice. I wish the weather was like this year round. However, I love when it snows, and the snow is clean. I enjoy looking at the glitter in the snow, especially in the night time how nice. And if the stars are out, the night time shine of the dark sky glittering like diamonds in the sky well give it that extra winter touch. One of my passions is walking through the snow and watching the winters air like smoke come out through my nose and mouth is one of my favorite things. It's like me in touch with winter as the cold goes in through my nose and out my mouth greeting me for the colder months to come. When I walk in the snow I love coming home and making some hot chocolate and adding some mini marshmallows while sitting by the window watching the snow and sipping my hot chocolate. How I love those winter memories each year when it arrives. I will just say to myself weather weather weather welcome.

Vacations Over

Today it feels like fall because it's raining and its cool outside. I went to McDonald with my daughter. There was a man standing by the door. He would open the door for everyone to go in. People leaving the restaurant wouldn't even say thank you as he opened the door for them. I was observing that every time he opened the door for someone and they didn't give him money he would mumble something under his breathe. When me and my daughter finished eating our meal, I tipped him on my way out. I didn't have to but, I felt that since he was opening the door for so many people let me give him a dollar before he cast the under his breathe spell. I really didn't know what he was mumbling when people didn't give him a tip, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a blessing. When I gave him the dollar he looked at it and put it in his pocket and didn't even say thank you. I had mixed feelings after I gave him my dollar. My problem with this situation is not so much the dollar I gave him although I don't have that kind of money to throw around. My point is this I go to the McDonald in my neighborhood and I see this constantly in my area someone standing by the door panhandling and smelling horrible and the food almost tastes like the person that is by the door because the odor is strong and the management doesn't seem to do anything about it. Meanwhile we keep the business open because we buy and bring in money to these businesses. I told my daughter next time we are going to take the train and go to another McDonald so that we can enjoy our meals.

Family Trip To Disney World Outer space Ride

When my daughter was 6 years old my husband and I decided to celebrate her birthday in Disneyland. It was our first time going to Disney so we were all very excited. When we arrived at Florida's airport around 10:00 am we took a car to the hotel. When we got to the hotel me and my husband unpacked a few things to take to the park and then left the rest of the luggage's and took off to the park. When we got to the park there were so many things to do and rides to get on that we didn't know where to start. But if you have kids they will let you know where exactly to go or where it is that they want you to take them first because they will begin mommy! mommy! I want to go there. Well we got on a couple of rides with my daughter but one caught her eye. It was an outer space ride and she said "mommy I want to get on that one". I said "ok" and we got on the ride and when the ride was over and we got off somehow we came out in one of the Disney's store that sold outer space things from that ride. I said to my daughter playing " Oh my! we're in outer space and we have to stay here to live". I didn't know my daughter was going to believe me and she began to cry and said " mommy I don't want to live in outer space". "I want to go home to earth".
I started to laugh so hard and explained to her that we were on earth and the ride stops at the the store that sold the outer space souvenirs and things but that we were still on earth and in Disneyland. When I remember that trip it makes me laugh because the first thing that comes to my mind is that ride to outer space.
